PATTERN CORRECTIONS & TYPOS

March 2001

Applies to 1998 pattern

Corrections are shown in bold.

PAGE 7, ROW 40:  change “TWICE,” to “TWICE),”.

PAGE 8, ROW 6:  change “YO, P1, K1, B-OXO...” to “YO, P1, K 1, ins EOR marker, B-OXO...”.

PAGE 9, ROW 23:  The first sentence of the directions says – “YO, (P1, K3) 5x, B-OXO, (K3, P1) 4x, K2, S 1 (this is the YO from the beg of this row), K 1, PSSO...”  But, it should really say the following:

“YO, (P1, K3) 5x, row 5 of B-OXO, (K3, P1) 4x, K2, S 2 as if to K tog, K1 (this is the YO from the beg of this row), P2SSO...”

NOTE that P2SSO means to pass the 2 slipped stitches over.

PAGE 10, ROW 8:  The row says – “Rpt row 2”.  Replace it with – “Rpt row 4”.

PAGE 10, AFTER THE FIRST ROW 16:  Oops, I forgot to delete the redundant (& erroneous) text, so please delete the SECOND set of directions for Rows 12-16 (the first set of Rows 12-16 is correct).

PAGE 11, ROW 5:  The stitch count at the end of the row should be 169 st (NOT 168).

PAGE 12, ROW 21:  Change “PincL” to “KincL”.

PAGE 16, HORNS, ROWS 5,7,9:  It should say “end row 5 with 15 st” (NOT 14).

PAGE 17, ROW 24:  This is really Row 20 (NOT 24).

KNITTING TIPS

March 2001

apply to 1998 pattern

A class full of knitting students in Minnesota helped me compile these tips and explanations to make knitting the hard parts of Sue the Ewe just a little easier (using the same abbreviations as in the pattern).  Thanks Knitting Camp knitters!  Although some of the corrections are noted below, they are the same ones appearing above.

¨       PAGE 6 --

§       ROWS 17-21:  The st count for each odd-numbered row increases 2 st.  So Row 17 has 26 st, Row 19 has 28 st, Row 21 has 30 st.

§         ROWS 18-24:  Work 1 fewer st on each even-numbered row.  So work 18 st in Row 18, 17 st in Row 20, 16 st in Row 22, 15 st in Row 24.

§         ROW 31:  At the end of this row the right side of the head is complete and you see that the st on the needle are in a series of groups (because of the short rows).  When looking on the right side of the work, the st (including YOs) group together as shown below

§         ROWS 2-22:  Every row has st which you work and st which are left unworked, and the count of unworked st gradually decreases.  The number of st worked is shown in the pattern for almost every row, the number of unworked st in each row is shown below.
